Daily musings on love, life and lemon meringue pie

Ran into some students at Bay and Bloor. Did not expect to be addressed as Ms. outside of the area my students live. It made me happy to see them.

In bed before 10. It feels amazing!

I made fresh pasta (Jamie Oliver’s recipe) with spinach pesto for dinner tonight. Also whipped up some roasted cauliflower with almonds and Indian spice. Fresh pasta is almost a religious experience.

Made my own aioli today and met with what I thought was a disaster at first. It separated into a gloppy mess! So I had to find out why it did that (overbeaten). Along the way I stumbled upon Julia Child’s fix! Put a small glob of Dijon mustard in a clean bowl, then add a little of the separated mess and whisk like your life depends on it… Then just keep adding a little at a time until it has re-emulsified. Apparently, according to the helpful people on Chowhound you can also add another yolk and do the same.
